Stuck in Florida due to the Iceland Volcano Ash Cloud

Last December we had a few hiccups trying to leave from Hamburg due to the heavy snowfall in Dusseldorf. After a red-eye train ride to DUS in minus 7 degree weather (waiting at the train station was not fun) and 24 hours later, we finally arrived in Miami just in time for Christmas. This time, we are stuck in Miami due to the Iceland volcano ash cloud which has grounded air traffic in most European Airports since the eruption last Wednesday. After our Easter break, our flight was due to leave Miami on Friday, arrive in Dusseldorf Saturday morning, Sunday was laundry day, and Monday was back to school and the salt mine... well, as of Monday there is still no signs of when the air traffic restrictions will be lifted. But at least waiting by the pool sure beats waiting out the snow...

  1. We finally made it home on Thursday. Being stuck in Florida was not bad at all. Disneyworld was even giving free entrance tickets to all the "stranded" people!
